Auto Electrical
Electrical diagnosis and repair, starting and charging systems, wiring, lighting, batteries, accessories and specialised installations.
Advanced diagnosis and repair for trucks, commercial fleets and heavy machinery. From engine management and transmissions to emissions, CAN/J1939 networks and vehicle electronics, we diagnose the complete system — not just the electrical fault.
Trucks · Earthmoving Equipment · Construction Machinery · Concrete Agitators · Commercial Fleets · Service Vehicles · Traffic Management · Industrial Equipment
Dedicated to commercial and heavy vehicles.
We do not service passenger cars, caravans or motorhomes.
OEM diagnostic software and technical information across American, European, Japanese and Chinese heavy vehicles, backed by extensive hands-on experience.
Engine management, AMT and automatic transmissions, instrumentation, PTO systems and CAN/J1939 networks. Experience includes Cummins, Detroit Diesel, Caterpillar, Allison, Eaton AutoShift/UltraShift, Aisin, ZF and other heavy-vehicle platforms.
Engine derates, intermittent faults, transmission and shift issues, communication faults, sensors, AdBlue/SCR systems, wiring faults and complete vehicle-network diagnosis.
Extensive hands-on experience with SINOTRUK and SITRAK trucks, particularly concrete agitators.
When these trucks first began appearing in the Australian market, diagnostic capability and local technical knowledge were limited. We developed our experience working directly on these vehicles from those early years.
Our Lonsdale workshop was later visited by a SITRAK engineer from China to establish OEM diagnostic software and technical manual access.
Genuine SITRAK parts available overnight.
Extensive experience with concrete agitator trucks, covering both the truck electrical system and integrated mixer control systems.
We diagnose complex faults involving CAN/J1939 communications, PTO operation, engine and transmission interfaces, mixer controls, interlocks, wiring, sensors and control modules — including faults that cross between the truck and mixer systems.
From individual repairs and modifications through to complete electrical integration and fleet support.
AGI-Drive dealer — supply, installation, diagnosis and support.
We diagnose and repair complex CAN/J1939 datalink faults across a wide range of heavy vehicles and machinery, including recurring and difficult-to-diagnose issues.
This includes known problem areas such as the common datalink faults found on Mack concrete agitators, which can cause multiple warning lamps, loss of throttle response and widespread communication issues.
Proven repair methods developed through hands-on diagnosis and field experience.
Complex network faults · Proven diagnosis · Reliable repair
External lighting systems and upgrades for trucks, machinery and fleet vehicles, from replacement tail lamps and work lighting through to complete mine-spec lighting packages.
We supply and install quality lighting including Ultra Vision, with wiring, connections and mounting designed for demanding commercial and heavy-vehicle environments.
For concrete agitators, we understand the harsh conditions around the vehicle and can design lighting and wiring installations to better withstand regular wash-down, concrete residue and acid-wash exposure.
Tail lamps · Work lights · Mine-spec upgrades · Heavy-duty wiring
Complete electrical fit-outs for individual vehicles through to fleet rollouts of 100+ vehicles, tailored to operational, site-specific and mine-spec requirements.
Fit-outs can include:
Professionally designed and integrated for commercial, traffic management, construction and mining fleets.
Modern vehicle technology and in-cab electrical upgrades for trucks, commercial vehicles and fleet applications.
Including digital switching and accessory control, camera systems, UHF communications, and Android Auto / Apple CarPlay head-unit conversions and upgrades.
HD Auto's experience with heavy equipment goes back long before the business itself. Mick Tana grew up around opal mining from a very young age, working closely with his father — a fitter, toolmaker and boilermaker — and learning firsthand about operating, maintaining and repairing mining machinery.
Left school and began an auto electrical apprenticeship, building on years of practical exposure to machinery, mechanical work and repairs.
Started the business, providing auto electrical services and developing a strong focus on heavy vehicles, machinery and specialised electrical work.
Mick broadened his experience across specialised and industrial fields, including ruggedised computer hardware and systems for extreme environments, commercial and transport refrigeration, and sleeper/bunk installations on new Kenworth trucks.
Following a business restructure, this broader technical and trade experience was brought together to form HD Auto Electrical & Air Conditioning.
Incorporated as Tanaco Pty Ltd, trading as HD Auto Electrical & Air Conditioning.
Moved into our brand-new, purpose-built facility in Lonsdale, providing the workshop capacity and infrastructure to support heavy vehicles, machinery, fleet work and specialised projects.
Electrical diagnosis and repair, starting and charging systems, wiring, lighting, batteries, accessories and specialised installations.
Heavy-vehicle and machinery air-conditioning diagnosis, servicing, repairs and complete system work.
Diagnosis and repair of AdBlue/SCR and DPF systems, including pressure, dosing, sensor, wiring, control and emissions-system faults, engine derates and reduced-power conditions.
Heavy-duty Red Dot HVAC installations, repairs and retrofits for trucks, machinery and specialised applications.
Workshop and fleet support for difficult faults, recurring issues and vehicle downtime.
On-site diagnosis and repair for trucks, machinery, quarries and commercial equipment.
WE'RE NOT ONLY LOOKING AT THE FAULT IN FRONT OF US
When we're working on a truck or machine, we also look at the condition of the systems around it — identifying anything that doesn't look right, is deteriorating or could contribute to the next breakdown.
A brake-light fault, for example, may be more than one broken wire. We assess the condition of the lighting system, harnesses, connections and installation, then recommend what is needed to improve reliability and reduce future downtime.
That same approach carries through our electrical work, diagnostics, engine management, powertrain, air conditioning and vehicle fit-outs.
FIND THE FAULT · LOOK AT THE WHOLE SYSTEM · FIX IT PROPERLY · HELP PREVENT THE NEXT BREAKDOWN
